Christian Filmmaker Forced To Make Gay And Lesbian Films

If the above headline were true, would it outrage you for having lost your freedom of speech?

We all remember the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) membership controversy with numerous lawsuits attempting to force BSA to put avowed homosexuals into leadership roles against their Scout Oath, Law and Values. While the state and federal courts have continued to uphold their rights, BSA continues to spend large sums of money to defend themselves in court.

Not only has the country’s largest private youth organization continued to be pulled into battle, but eHarmony was added to the mix. Constant lawsuits forced the dating giant to succumb to pressure and create the site “Compatible Partners” for the gay and lesbian community. Once the foothold was in place, eHarmony found itself in more legal battles until their settlement last week causing them to merge subscribers of their gay and lesbian site with their Jewish, black, Christian, and senior sites. … Continue Reading

Is There Such A Thing As A Christian Film?

The release of the big budget, post-apocalyptic, action-adventure film, “The Book of Eli,” has generated a firestorm of conversation among Believers.  It seems a number of the members of the mainstream press are referring to the movie as a “Christian” film.

Some of the Faithful are embracing “The Book of Eli” with a full body bear hug while others would prefer to keep the stark, violent film at arm’s length.  There are valid points made by both camps.

“Eli” is indeed a stark and violent film.  Some guys get their hands chopped off.  Women are subjugated by men. Violence reigns.  The profane have inherited an earth where the Word of God no longer exists.  “Whatsoever things are pure…think on these things.”  Who could blame Believers for covering their eyes?

Yet, as always, there is a remnant.  In the devastation of a post-nuclear holocaust, one man carries the Word of God.  Eli is a mystic.  He has heard the voice of God and he is on a mission.  He walks by faith, not by sight.  He knows the power and protection of God.

But the evil one also knows the power of the Word of God, and would gain that power to wield it over the weak.  People, he says, will believe the words if they come out of That Book.

The result is a battle between good and evil of Biblical proportions. … Continue Reading

Preparing for the Oscar Cinematography Award

January 26, 2010 GUEST BLOGGERS, NEWS 1 Comment

Not too long ago, I shared an article for the 25 movies to watch before the Oscars.  Today, I thought I’d focus in a little more closely on the role of the Director of Photography (my first professional role, lensing the documentary Chileda: Children At Work for CBS) to help prepare those who are interested for the American Society of Cinematographers Award Ceremony on February 27th.

However, as I started to write this article, I realized that the work had already been done, so I decided to share what has already been written. Here are … Continue Reading

HOSFU LC

HOSFU LC is a company dedicated to Promoting Christ Through The Film Industry.

HOSFU is an acronym which stands for:

His Only Son For Us

Our logo is descriptive of our company.

*The royal purple signifies the majesty of Christ

*The pocket watch which makes up the "O" in HOSFU represents the fact that there is limited time before the Christ returns. The hands of the watch are set at 3PM the time in which the Christ gave up His Spirit and changed the positional relationship of the world to God into a savable one.

*The shadow that comes from the pocket watch is a cross as a solemn reminder of the great sacrifice of Christ

*The "U" in HOSFU is catching a tear of God which reminds us that God's heart is grieved for those that do not know Him. However the "U" also catches the tear as a representation of His grace.
